The History of The Carpet Tree
When Herb Mynatt started The Carpet Tree back in 1975, wall to wall carpet was all the rage.
When Herb Mynatt founded The Carpet Tree in 1975, What started as a single flooring store on Blanding Blvd grew into one of Jacksonville's most trusted names in flooring — built on honest advice, personalized service, and a simple philosophy: the wrong flooring at the right price is still the wrong flooring.
As the flooring industry evolved, so did The Carpet Tree. Over nearly five decades, the business expanded to offer luxury vinyl plank, porcelain tile, engineered hardwood, window treatments, and commercial flooring — all while keeping the focus on helping Jacksonville families make the right choice for their home and their budget.
In 2002, Beth Mynatt joined Herb in the business, deepening The Carpet Tree's roots in the community through involvement with the Westside Business Leaders Association, the Clay County Chamber, Biz Net of Orange Park, and the Navy League Jacksonville Council. Together, Herb and Beth built something Jacksonville could count on for nearly 50 years.
MEET OUR TEAM
In 2023, Priscilla Screen and her brother Moises Reyna became the proud new stewards of The Carpet Tree, carrying forward a Jacksonville tradition that began in 1975. Priscilla's business acumen and community roots made The Carpet Tree a natural fit — a locally owned business with a legacy worth preserving and a future worth investing in.
Alongside her is Moises, known to customers simply as Moe, who brings over 25 years of hands-on flooring installation experience to every project. When you visit our showroom, you're getting advice from someone who has spent decades working with every flooring type — not just selling it.
Together, this brother and sister team is committed to the same personalized service Jacksonville families have trusted for over 50 years.
